Alek's Thoughts

Giovani's room -- book review

David is despicable: he's very selfish, and he lies to everyone in his life. David pretends to be close to people, but is not. He has an affair with Giovani while his wife Hela is off on a trip. Giovani loves him from the first encounter that they have, which feels magical to both of them. The main character allows Giovani to believe that main char will be there to support Giovani. Giovani gives a lot of himself to the main char and trusts him a lot.

David lies to people, especially himself, about his motivations and feelings.

David acts this way because he is scared that people will discover his flaws (both things that he considers to be flaws, and actual large moral failings). David pushes away lovers, hurts them a lot, in order to prevent people from discovering that he loved them. David tries to deceive himself about his own faults.

What must I do in order to not be Giovani?
